I'm Leon Schmied, 18 years old, Austrian racing driver from Vienna-Donaustadt. In kart racing I compete in the ÖTSM, SWS and AOM series – with multiple championship titles and international successes.
At the age of 6 I started playing football and learned about teamwork and ambition in 3 different Viennese clubs – but in 2020 everything changed: I discovered kart racing and immediately knew that the racetrack is my world.
What started as a first try on the kart track quickly developed into a serious career. With relentless training, technical understanding and a strong racing instinct, I keep pushing forward.
Off the track I've stayed down-to-earth and the connection to my fans is important to me. I openly share my experiences, successes and setbacks – because the road to the top is a marathon, not a sprint.
My entry into kart racing – from the football pitch to the racetrack. Right from the first races it was clear: this is my passion.
Entry into the ÖTSM and first podium in the junior category. On top of that, my first win in the Sodi World Series.
My first sprint win in the ÖTSM and runner-up in the junior category. Plus my debut at the SWS World Finals in Paris, where I became the first Austrian to win a heat.
More wins in the ÖTSM and winning the Junior Championship. Also my entry into the GTC in Germany.
ÖTSM Junior and Sprint Champion. Team runner-up with motorSPORTaktiv. Trophy Champion in the GTC with Solid Bam Racing. Topped off by a T4 guest start in Genk with two race wins.
CCK Junior Champion and AOM Champion with Neubacher. Third in the ÖTSM sprint standings and third in the team standings with motorSPORTaktiv. Win at the 24h SWS race in Lignano with Sunlife.
New season, new goals – I'm competing in multiple series and working on establishing myself in the international kart racing scene.
Victory in the Junior class of the Champion Cup Kart at Castelletto di Branduzzo – the biggest title of my career so far.
Winning the Sprint Championship in the Austrian 4-Stroke Team Kart Championship – another milestone.
My first major title: Champion in the Junior category of the ÖTSM – the foundation for everything that followed.

A thoroughly successful AOM weekend with Neubacher MT pb KSCM – victory in the 9h race and the day win in the sprint classification.
Double ÖTSM win in the scorching heat at the Slovakiaring.
I'm delighted to announce that, effective immediately, I will be racing in the Sodi World Series (SWS) for Team Dymovee.
After finishing P2 at the 24h race in Jesolo, we wanted to show a reaction – and that's exactly what we did.
